Women in the modern workplace is a commonly discussed topic. Between the idea of is it more difficult for a woman to obtain a certain job or the wages between two people of opposite sex who have the same skill set and experience. In my own opinion it can be more difficult for women to get a job depending on the job. For example for a job that relies more on physical strength such as construction worker a male would be more likely to get the job due to a male typically being stronger. On the other hand a female would more likely be accepted over a male at a job in fashion because people are more drawn towards the physical appearance of a female. Keep in mind I may be completely incorrect this is just my own opinion on this subject. Now when it comes to wages typically you can see a female in the same position as a male receiving a lower wage than a male. In 2013 it was found that women were making 78 cents to every dollar that the men were making.
This is a chart that shows the average income between a man and woman after college. As you can see the women make significantly less than the men after college. Now the question is why is the gap so large when they received the same education (seeing as if they attended the same college and same class).
Again here's a photo representing the pay wage gap between men and women. As you can see the women in this photo are carrying a small sum of cash while the man in the picture has a much greater amout of money. In the workplace many people know of this wage gap but don't say anything due to it being frowned upon to ask a coworker what their wages are. Now I really wonder when and if this will be fixed and there will be more equality amongst the work place.
